- The National Archives, one of the institutions helping to design the Museum, contributed historic documents and photos to the exhibition.
- The 1960 Lancaster House Conference saw Sir Milton Margai and a delegation from Sierra Leone negotiate independence with the British Government. The conference set 27th April 1961 as the date for Sierra Leone's independence.
- The National Museum contributed pictures to the exhibition of the conflict in Sierra Leone and other recent conflicts in West Africa. The National Museum is also part of the committee designing the Peace Museum.
- The house where Bai Bureh, leader of the Hut Tax rebellion, was held after being captured in November 1898 vefore being exiled to Ghana. Bai Bureh opposed the extension of British colonial authority in Sierra Leone.
- The exhibition was well attended by school children, civil society groups and members of the public. Even though the exhibition was only on display for three days, it was a great introduction to what people can expect from the permanent exhibition, due to open in 2012.
